Indy's War Cemetery
I was a chess
player in high school... sometimes I really regret taking up
dice games.
- Graham Shepfer, 2-time Red Baron Fight winner,
'98 and '01 Indy Squadron champion
Latest Interments
Doing his best Kevin Richeson act, Rick Lacy has seen one of his best pilots die
shortly after becoming an ace. Ltn. Bruno Schultz was on his fourteenth mission when he was plugged in the gut by Stephen
Dale's top Camel pilot, who was in turn shot down by Stephen with a leg wound on the same turn. But that does nothing to alleviate
the suffering of Schultz's family, who will hold a memorial service for their lost loved one this week even as Bruno's perforated
remains are ditched in a small village cemetery in France. In recognition of his rotten luck, Bruno has been moved to the
honorary Number One plot in the German section.
Ken Mrozak is also actively populating the Indy Squadron War Cemetery, this time contributing a highly successful two
seater observer (Obtln. Krausse in Plot Number 12) and an Albatros ace (Vz. Wurstmeister in Plot Number 9). Both of them went
down fighting, one dying of wounds and the other in a crash.
Kevin has managed to kill yet another pilot within hours of his becoming an ace
- literally. Lt. Tom Knight logged his twelfth mission during March 10th gaming only to die later that afternoon when he suffered
a light wound and mangled his Camel badly upon landing. He died in the crash and is now peacefully resting in Plot Number 5
of the British cemetery.
Eligibility
The Indy Squadron War Cemetery and Memorial Park is reserved for ace/experienced
pilots only, who are no longer active and flew at least one mission at an official Indy Squadron gaming day at any point
during their career. If your pilot meets this criteria, please submit his data to the webmaster so that he can be assigned a burial plot and permanently laid to rest with full military honors, or, in the case of POW's,
have a memorial erected in his honor here on the park grounds.
- KIA - killed in action
- KIC - killed in crash
- POW - prisoner of war
- DOW - died of wounds
- POW - prisoner of war
